Rowan Tree Art Therapy

Hello, I'm Sarah, the founder of Rowan Tree Art Therapy, established in 2024. I operate from the Ards and North Down region of Northern Ireland. In Celtic lore, Rowan trees symbolize courage, wisdom, and protection, mirroring some of the elements of therapy itself. Interestingly, the Rowan tree also happens to be the origin of my family name.

Prior to delving into Art Therapy, I dedicated 8 years to teaching Art and Photography at a secondary school in England, where I also served as a boarding house tutor. However, my journey led me back to Northern Ireland to pursue Art Psychotherapy and reconnect with my roots. Armed with a BA Hons in Fine Art (2013) and a PGCE postgraduate degree (2014), I furthered my education, obtaining an Art Psychotherapy MSc in 2023. My passion for Art Therapy has been a driving force throughout my career, evident in my fine art degree show which tackled mental health themes. Additionally, I assumed pastoral roles in the school environment, including a key safeguarding position, and I currently continue to work with both children and adults who have both physical and learning disabilities as I strongly believe that Art and Art therapy should be accessible and inclusive to all.
